Portugal-Erin & Miguel

Destination Weddings- Erin & Miguel-Portugal

Recently returned from photographing a beautiful wedding in Portugal for Erin and Miguel Cardoso.
What a blast!
They met with me about a year ago and asked if I was interested in going to Portugal to photograph the wedding.
Of course, I thought it was a brilliant idea ... especially after they told me what was planned.

Frank  (my brother) and Chris ( my adopted brother LOL)  were already booked here in Ottawa. I asked my good friend Frank Fillicetti from Through The Lens Photography,  based in Toronto, to give me a hand. We've worked together before and we thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience.

They were going to be married in a small town called Bussaco in a castle. Bussaco is 2 hrs. North of Lisbon.
It was unbelievable....words can't describe it....it has to be experienced. The people, the culture, the food and wine...
The ceremony took place in a small country church that dates back to the 1100's. Miguel was able to trace back baptisms and weddings as far as four generations in his family line.
After the ceremony, it was back to Bussaco for the formal reception. There were 26 guests in attendance. The intimate reception was exquisite and the party was very special in many ways.

The next day, the couple wanted to get dressed again and take pictures in downtown Lisbon. I thought this was a great idea....we could focus on more of a photojournalistic approach on the day itself, and then deal with breathtaking formals the next day.

It was very nice to be able to hang out with the couple for the days before and after the wedding as well....it gave us a chance to really get to know each other.
Frank and I got enjoy the culture, regional dishes  and of course to porto with people who knew the lay of the land.

A big thanks to Erin and Miguel for letting me be part of such a special celebration!
Thanks to their families for their gracious hospitality.
Thanks Frank Filicetti for shooting some amazing images with me!

Cant wait to visit Portugal again!!

Ciao
